The School, in conjunction with the Fossoway School Council, recently published an online parental survey to gather feedback from parents and carers of the pupils. We are now in a position to begin sharing the results with you. The attached links show the data returned in graph format, and in the table format which was presented during the survey. The comments that you shared and the stories that you told are being taken forward by the school and by the council in order to make firm plans of action and an update on these actions will be shared in due course.

Perth and Kinross Council decide the level of provision of instrumental music tuition in a school partly based on the level of interest (judged by the number of IT1s submitted to Perth & Kinross Council in the summer term).

The school council has agreed to circulate the IT1 form and Perth and Kinross Council Prospectus on provision of musical instrument tuition and these documents are attached.

The main item on the agenda is the questions arising from the parents meeting with PKC on 23rd March. These have been distilled into 8 sections and 23 questions. It is hoped that parents will attend, specifically those who were either at the meeting or share the views. The School Council feels that if the meeting is a question and answer session, we are unlikely to achieve any outcome which satisfies everyone, and that any response given by PKC or the School will, rightly, spark debate. If each question were allowed 10 minutes discussion, the meeting would be in excess of 4 hours.

Therefore, in order to progress this, the School Council would like to use the opportunity to address the points in turn, with input from parents and those attending, to agree the following for each question:

  1. Ensure that the statement and questions reflect accurately the concerns raised by parents at the meeting of 23rd February.
  2. Agree between PKC / HT / FSC / Parents the best way to provide and formulate an answer.
  3. Agree the timescale for the provision of the answer.

Whilst we do not wish to rehash the previous meeting, we wish to ensure that the document is a true representation of the parents concerns, and provides a way forwards to address those concerns.

Following the recent meeting between PKC auditors and parents, the enclosed document has been issued to the School and PKC for response.
