Pantomime visit

The whole school is going to see the panto in Kirckaldy, Jack and the Beanstalk, more information will be posted about times, etc.
Open afternoon

The school is having an open afternoon on the 12th of December for all parents to come in and visit their children’s classrooms. The draw for the FPSA Christmas Hamper will also take place.
In service days

School’s closed on the 20th and 21st November to give the teachers a chance to learn things.
Parent’s evenings

Parent’s evenings are set for 6pm to 9pm on November 4th and 6th
Autumn assembly

Parents of children in P1 and P2 are invited to come to the Autumn assembly at 9:15am on 23rd October. Please contact the school if you want to come along.
Minutes of School Council meeting, 16 September 2007

This was our first proper meeting with the new head (Sam Nicholson, if you didn’t know already), and I think it’s fair to say the council have established a good rapport in quite a short space of time.
Those who managed to make it to the meeting were, Willie Campbell, Ian Rose, Andrew Montford, Michelle Telfer, Heather Hutchinson, Carole Kinghorn, Duncan Summervail and Sam Nicholson. Apologies from Heather Davidson, Anne Marie Machan, Denise Wilson and Katharine Gunn.

Consultation on new qualifications

The Scottish Government has started a consultation on the future of exams in Scotland. This wil be tied in with the new Curriculum for Excellence. Views are being sought from everybody concerned, and the outcome of this consultation will likely determine the type of qualification structure that your child will go through in secondary school.
To take part in the consultation, you can download the consultation document or read it online, and take part in the online questionnaire.

School’s not out

The latest news from Perth & Kinross Council on the strike on 24th September is that whilst some Council services will be affected, the Education services will, in the main, be unaffected. There are issues over Nursery provision and After School club, so the latest position is:
- P1 to P7 - school is open, lunches (restricted menu) will be available
- Nursery - nursery is closed for the day
- After School Club - is closed for the day

School’s out

There is a notice up on the Perth & Kinross Council website indicating that the school will be closed on Wednesday 20th August, because the staff are going to be going on strike over pay.
The notice can be seen here.
The school council has had no official notification of this action, and we’re passing on this information on on the assumption that it will apply to Fossoway.
