Online shopping = online fund raising

{ November 6th, 2009 }

The FPSA have produced a short leaflet How to raise money for Fossoway School which gives you a few ideas on how you can help fund raising.

One of the best ways all you online shoppers can help is by going to easyfundraising.org.uk and registering to support Fossoway Primary School. Very simply, once you’ve registered, if you want to shop at Next, go to this site first, then click on the link to the Next website. You’ll always end up on the same site you would normally, but now any purchase you make, a percentage will be given back to easyfundraising, who then pass it back to the school. This will only work if you go to the easyfundraising site FIRST.

You can find out more about how it works or you can register to support Fossoway Primary School

FSC to pay for SMS for School Groups

{ October 28th, 2009 }

Last year, one of the projects of the School Council was to try to introduce a group SMS system into the school similar to the one used in Kinross High. We got Fossoway onto the pilot study being run by PKC, and had the full term before the summer holidays of using and testing.

The feedback from parents was excellent, and the school also found it useful, and so we’ve carried on with the concept. The exact software has changed to become more integrated into the existing school computer management system and is slightly cheaper to send texts, but the basic concept remains the same. What has changed now, however, is that the school now incurs all the costs. A message to the whole school costs around £5, which soon mounts up over a term, therefore the school has to charge groups for the use of the system.

FSC have decided that the fund raising groups, FPSA and ECOLE, shouldn’t have to spend their money on communicating, so all costs incurred by those groups using the SMS system will be covered by the School Council.
