Notes of FPSA meeting, 20th Feb

Present – Heather Kerr, Alicia Starkey, Leanne Stirton, Lindsay Watts, Susan Shanks, Zoe Fawsitt,Jo Ramsay, Janine Seymore, Heather Davidson, Martin Grant, Alison Conlon, Sara Campbell, Sara McCormick
1. Apologies – Heather Hutchison, Kate Walker, Helen Donaldson, Michelle Telfer
2. Minutes (approved)
3. 200 club – 81 tickets sold (24 families) We hope to involve some more families. First draw to be held at school assembly on 29 February. Winner to be announced in FPSA newsletter before Easter.
4. Beetle Drive (12 March 6:30pm) – Alicia, Sara C and Heather H have this in hand. Heather is to do a reminder to try to encourage further ticket sales. We have still to find dice, “silent dice” were suggested? We will email the committee for help to set up furniture on the night.
5. School fete – date to be confirmed after consultation with Mrs Walker.
Time : 1-4pm Saturday
Venue : school field/playground/hall. Use of toilets in FRED room? Or School to be
confirmed.
Some stalls have been allocated:
Heather D – wellie chuck and bunting
Alicia – assault course, cross country run and plants (to speak to WALC)
Jo & Susan – water/wine, matchbox draw and bears birthday
ECOLE – lucky dip and 2nd hand toys/books
Leanne – face painting
Sara C – hook a duck and balloons ( to speak to Bill Howie about paramedic or local
contacts for ambulance service)
Lindsay – pencils in bale
Sara M – Treasure Hunt
Zoe – Shopping tent
Martin – tombola (also to organise bouncy castle)
Heather H – homebaking (we realise that we need many extra volunteers to help with
tea/coffee on the day, and of course lots of help in the baking of yummy cakes to
sell!)
We talked about involving the Red Cross at the event.
Martin is going to speak to a piper (Rab Hamilton? Or Calum Brown? To officially open to
event.
Before the next meeting (Wed 19 march 7:30pm) we have all to work out how to run our stalls, find out what we need and to try to involve other parents to volunteer to help…..Good Luck!
6. AOB – Valentine’s disco – a big thank you to all the helpers and although we made a slight loss (£231 out, £224 in) we still believe it was a worthwhile event and was enjoyed by all who attended.
Shorts’n’shades Disco has been confirmed by Ernie for wed 25th June 2008
FPSA noticeboard in school now has a paper copy of the most recent minutes. Heather D is to check this on a regular basis. It was suggested to make a FPSA noticeboard at nursery too. Heather D to speak to Nursery staff.
Zoe had another idea for fundraising - “The Fundraising Company Ltd” who recycle
unwanted costume jewellery. We will investigate this further.
